Magic the Gathering

The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth
Celebration Event

Saturday, 15th July 2023 (11am)
DayDateStart Time
Saturday15/07/202311:00[Facebook]

Celebration Event Information

Jumpstart introduces new players to Magic: The Gathering. All you need to do is open two packs, shuffle them together, and play! With two packs combined, players have all the spells and lands they need in one 40-card deck.

Players who register for the event using their individual Wizards Account and play 3 rounds of Jumpstart are eligible to receive promo materials at the event.*

* In my opinion there’s no getting around the marketing pitch here – Jumpstart is an excellent way to introduce new players to Magic the Gathering but… Celebration is also a pretty transparent attempt to get people (and stores) to sign up for the Magic Companion App (and, ultimately, MTG Arena). Pick your poison: most in-store players have the app anyway – relentless corporate data-harvesting (and personal cynicism) aside, it is a very good system with a great deal to recommend it – Jumpstart is an ideal starting point, plus Lord of the Rings, and they are tempting people with dice and promo cards.
They know.
We know that they know.
They know that we know that they know…

For anyone relatively new to or keen to try out Magic: the Gathering, the Lord of the Rings ‘Celebration Event’ is an ideal place to begin.

Entry is £12 per player, for two Magic the Gathering, Lord of the Rings – Jumpstart booster packs, plus assorted MTG promo items (while stocks last).
